Uncommon Broadband FAQ

Clear prices. Clear process. Clear boundaries.

Is service available everywhere?

No. Service is limited to qualified Portland addresses. Availability depends on line of sight, signal quality, network capacity, mounting options, cable path, and whether we believe the finished connection will perform well.

What is the correct order?

Check the address first. Uncommon reviews the location second. A $49 refundable reservation is offered only after the address appears likely to qualify. Final serviceability is confirmed through installation.

What does the $49 reservation do?

The reservation holds your place and is applied toward the $199 Professional Installation & Activation charge if service proceeds. If Uncommon Broadband cannot serve the address, it is refunded. A reservation is not a guarantee of service.

How much is installation?

Professional Installation & Activation is $199. The fee covers the agreed standard installation, activation, configuration, and connection testing. Unusual building conditions or work outside the standard scope will be discussed before proceeding.

Is there a contract?

No. Monthly service is prepaid, with no contract and no temporary promo-pricing games.

What is a Service Profile?

A Service Profile is the download and upload combination chosen for the home. The Profile Builder shows the monthly price as those speeds change, so you can define the connection before reserving.

Is managed Wi-Fi included?

Managed Wi-Fi is included for Uncommon-installed equipment and basic connection support.

Can I use my own router or mesh system?

Yes. If you use customer-owned networking equipment, Uncommon support and visibility generally stop at the Ethernet handoff or installed service receiver. Configuration and troubleshooting of that equipment are not included.

What support is not included?

Device-by-device home IT support, customer-owned routers or mesh systems, printers, smart-home devices, televisions, cameras, third-party VPNs, malware removal, interior cabling beyond the agreed installation, and general technology consulting are outside standard support.

Does weather affect service?

The network is engineered for real Portland conditions, but severe weather, obstructions, equipment or power failures, and upstream incidents can affect any broadband service. We monitor the network and avoid installations that lack sufficient expected margin.

Do you sell browsing data?

No. Uncommon Broadband does not sell browsing data or build advertising profiles from internet use. We do process account, operational, security, and diagnostic information needed to provide and protect the service. See the Privacy Policy for the complete explanation.

What if my address does not qualify?

We will say so. Qualification is deliberately selective, and an address may be reconsidered later if network coverage, capacity, or installation conditions change.
